Healthy Smiles at schools and ECE services

World Oral health day is the perfect opportunity for schools and Early Childhood Education services to raise student awareness and take part in activities to promote oral health.

Schools and ECE services can participate in this day by organising a wide range of events and activities to raise awareness about oral health. These events and activities need to take place during the week of 6-12 September 2010. 

Funding

Your school or ECE service may apply for and qualify for funding for your oral health event which must take place during the week of 6-12 September 2010.

A maximum of $1,000 will be granted to individual schools and a maximum of $300 to individual ECE services.

Funding is limited, hence not all applications will be funded. Applications will be assessed on the following criteria by the NZDA project team:

• Whole school approach -involvement from students, staff and parents
• Innovative ways that lead to increased awareness about prevention of oral diseases

Preference will be given to schools and ECE services with high Maori and Pacific population, and low decile schools.

Applications for the 2010 WOHD Event funding close on 16 August, 2010.
